I am an ordinary citizen with the same dreams and hopes as the rest of you. I am a family man, here to listen to the citizens of Roseburg. I will be here day in and day out, fighting not only for you but for everyone in this city. I don't belong to any political party; I do what is needed to get answers to issues and find solutions to problems. I im here to pull the rug out from under the issues you have brought forth, but get swept under one rug or another. Together, we can make Roseburg thrive. I have a vision, but it will take everyone coming together in some form or another. It's our citizens who make our community, and our community should be more about them. Together, we can accomplish many things.
We live in a Multifaceted crisis. Being in a rural community, we need to work on bringing in more mental health workers and strengthening the partnerships we already have with resources. and stop disregarding what is needed most.
I have seen we are running into an issue with officer and, honestly, community safety, we are currently 9 officers short. I will dive into why we are unable to address or resolve these shortcomings. Also, I will be looking at more of the practices and why we have better responses and patrols in certain parts of our city and not others.
We need to bring back the mom-and-pop businesses we have lost due to one thing or another. Through entrepreneurship, I am dedicated to ideas for bringing family-oriented businesses that gather families to employ youth and show we care not only about our youth but also about our families. Let's revitalize some of these vacant buildings instead of letting them sit and decay.
I want to prepare for our Future generations by bringing in more youth-oriented initiatives. make sure our youth are set for the future and not falling into the systemic problems of society with the drugs and alcohol, see what we can do about more awareness to teen suicide and bring it down. Even though we are below the average, in Roseburg, 1 is still too high.
We need a city government that is more transparent about what we are doing with our taxpayers' money, as well as the grants and federal funding we receive. I plan to be as transparent as possible.
I plan to cut back on repeating the same projects and adopt a "do it right the first time" attitude toward street repairs and upgrades so we can use our budgets more effectively for our community.
I plan to look into revitalizing our public transit system and how we can improve it.
